  • The voluntary work in the expert groups of ECLASS is open to all interested parties to participate.

  • Standardized products and services, to find clearly, quickly and safely, with ECLASS you save time.
  • Article comprising described also for engineering with ECLASS to save money.
  • ECLASS Advanced helps to reduce process costs and -duration.

easy data exchange

data quality

  • ECLASS has rules and regulations defined based on national and international standards:
    • Technical standards for data model and identifications.
    • Naming rules for structural elements.
    • Special rules for structural elements: e.g. classes, attributes, values.
  • Online portal-based workflow process with expert groups to develop and maintain the standard.
  • ECLASS defined a version process.

global access

  • Online portal-based workflow process with expert groups to develop and maintain the standard.
  • ECLASS is available in several languages.
  • ECLASS members have a combined worldwide annual sales of nearly 1,000 billion EUR.

  • The structural elements have a language-independent unique identifier.
  • Whenever possible find the ISO units used.
  • The maintained pivot language is, for the ECLASS association American English (Language Code: en, Country Code: U.S.). It is the base for all other necessary translations.

master data management

  • ECLASS supports with its interbranch standard the unification of your own products and supplier products in your IT.
  • The product data classified by the supplier reduce your classification effort and make possible a clearly internal and external communication
  • ECLASS helps in the analysis of the use with technical data, prices and product descriptions and represents an explicit advantage in competition.

    • German Institute for Standardization (DIN)
    • European Comité Européen de Normalisation (CEN)
    • German Association for Materials Management, Purchasing & Logistics (BME)
    • German Machinery and Plant Manufacturers (VDMA)

Implementation of ECLASS

Standardized device data

  • The development and implementation of the required structure was based on typical examples of equipment from the involved manufacturers of the Cross Expert Group CAx.
  • The ECLASS CAx expert group will continue its efforts standardized data devices from different manufacturers for system developers to provide.
  • At the time the CAx expert group works on a guide to understanding the structures for integrators and data providers.

  • The development of the ECLASS Advanced structure was done by the ECLASS CAx expert group comprising representatives of equipment manufacturers and software companies in close cooperation with the ECLASS center for research and development.
  • The ECLASS e.V. organized the IT technical requirements including BMEcat 2005.1-advanced.
  • The new structure of the model were introduced by the CAx expert group.
  • At present, the use will be integrated in several CAE tools.

Standard interfaces

  • The German Association Materials Management, Purchasing and Logistics (BME), Frankfurt, has driven the development of a standard (BMEcat) for electronic data transmission for product catalogs.
  • BME and ECLASS e.V. cooperate and have jointly developed a new "object-oriented" data model. The new BMEcat 2005.1 and ECLASS 7.1 Specifications support the potential of this new data model in its entirety.
  • This new model was implemented in 2012 to 2005.1 BMEcat-advanced as an extension.
